Why is Dean the Most Interesting Voice Actor in the World?
Imagine, if you will, an 8-year-old kid hovering over a turntable, listening intently to a Lone Ranger adventure LP, enraptured by the images conjured up by the combination of music, sound effects, and voices alone…This was more fascinating than TV. This was TV in my head. Voices, along with those in my favorite TV cartoons, which expressed so many characters and emotions! Later, I would try my hand at doing voices, reading Mad Magazine movie parodies into my 3” reel-to-reel tape recorder, with different voices for each character. I enjoyed the act of storytelling, creating my own little audiodramas. As an adult, I would take on radio, acting onstage, looping for movies and TV shows, singing and playing in bands, and eventually train to do Voiceover full-time. Something that began as a child continues to drive me to this day.
Who Is Dean
I am a man who has had many different experiences. I grew up all over the US. I’ve had several careers: a spy for the NSA while in the Air Force, a Projectionist in Hollywood, a 4th grade teacher, and a Dad— My daughter, Bridgette Moody, is the lead singer in an incredible band called Haunted Summer. Today, I’m a full-time Voice Actor, bringing my love and enthusiasm of all these experiences into my work.
Where I’ve Been
Travel was instilled in my heart at an early age. My family moved many, many times throughout my childhood, thanks to my dad’s work as a consultant for the Aerospace Industry in the 60’s and 70’s. My public education took me through 15 different schools– I was always the “New Kid” in class! I’ve lived in California, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Indiana, Arizona, Missouri, Texas, Maryland, Virginia, and Washington. I’ve moved over 40 times in my life, and this past year was spent living in an RV! As an adult, I’ve traveled to such interesting places as Mexico, Canada, Germany, Austria, France, Switzerland, the Czech Republic, England, New Zealand, and Australia, and was stationed in Southern Italy while in the service. I’m back in Seattle for now, but for who knows how long!
What They Say
It is always a pleasure to work with Dean. I have used his voice for many of my projects and he is such a versatile voice actor. He can adapt to almost any kind of style. It doesn’t take him long to turn the script into sound, and the result is perfect. I will surely recommend him for anybody who’s working with films, commercials or computer games.
Dean has worked on several shows now for my audio drama company, Sole Twin Audios. He is one of the most versatile, professional actors I know, consistently turning in quality work in a timely manner and always offers to do retakes (despite seldom needing them because he gets it perfect the first time). I look forward to casting Dean in other roles and I would say if you need a 5 star performer for one of your projects, Dean is your guy!
I found Dean picks up skills quickly, as well as being very bookable. He takes direction well, and has proven to bring in repeat business consistently. In Animation, his character development is exceptional, his Narration delivery is near flawless, well-paced and on-point, and his ability to interpret Commercial copy is notable… I have recommended Dean to my own personal clients, and will not hesitate to do so in the future. He would be an asset to any booking agent’s roster.
Working with Dean was an amazing experience. He took care of every single detail requested for the VO, he also remained aware on the communications, and came up with great ideas that helped out the project. Needless to say that long distance projects become particularly easy to accomplish counting on professionals as is Dean. Looking forward to work with him again.
Dean’s always been reliable and enthusiastic, more happy to encourage and carouse with the other members of our cast. I have enjoyed every minute working with this guy. Such a warm and positive addition to our little band of voice actors! Thank you for setting the tone and mood as the very first voice in the production, Dean. You really set the bar high!
Dean was incredibly pleasant and professional to work with. Giving fantastic performances and being incredibly prompt with sending over work. I look forward to future collaborations with Dean. A great talent and addition to whatever he takes on.
I found it a pleasure to work with Dean. He has a very pleasant and professional approach. As a student, I really appreciated his patience and perseverance in fulfilling my request. I look forward to working with Dean in the future, as I’m sure will many of my fellow students.
Dean is one of those special talents that goes above and beyond to ensure that he’s offering the very best on any project. We’ve had the pleasure of working together on numerous projects; as a fellow talent, Dean is a pleasure and an inspiration to perform alongside. As a producer, I’m astounded at the dynamic versatility, quality of performance, and whole-hearted commitment to a role that Dean brings to the table. A real asset to any project, and a terrific guy to work with.
It was great working with Dean! We recorded via video call from the UK and it went very smoothly. Dean had done his research prior to the recording for those ‘tricky to pronounce’ words. The final voice over file was sent through quickly and I wouldn’t hesitate to use Dean again.
"I've been working with Dean for a long time. He has been the voice of my project from the beginning. His diction, voice and flow are impeccable. Beside being great at what he does, he's professional, easy to work with and financially flexible. Our communication has always been friendly and pleasant, with Dean quickly responding to my messages. Sometimes I would even be surprised how quickly he gets things done. When I was starting the project I didn't know exactly what I was getting into and Dean helped me with some very useful advice, even correcting my grammar on the scripts (since English is not my native language). Overall a great person to work with." - Ivan Poropat, The Native American History Channel
